Self Care because You are Beautiful
The spirit needs nurturing. Whether it’s meditation or massage or peacefully falling into the life and character of a novel’s heroine, downtime is necessary. Self care is necessary. It’s essential to our mental health. Sometimes, our lives can become hectic and we feel like we can’t stop, won’t stop.

“There’s so much to do” tends to be five words that escape my mouth often. I believe part of that to-do list should include taking care of oneself. Yes, easier said than done. ¡Nonetheless, muy importante!
“There’s so much to do”
A few of my favorite ways to unwind include a relaxing drive to my favorite coffee shop, enjoying a glass of wine I’ve never tried before, or simply being in nature. It’s amazing what Mother Earth has to offer. Her healing properties are endless. Vitamin D, alone, offers countless benefits. Just don’t forget the sunscreen!
My home base is Los Angeles, so boredom isn’t an option or an excuse. There is always something to do in this city and it doesn’t have to break the bank. The sun is almost always shining and the weather damn near perfect. Still, there are days where the outdoors isn’t necessarily calling my name.
I’m in need of something a little extra. Yesterday, I scheduled a Thai/Swedish combo massage with a foot scrub. I haven’t had a massage in over a year and it was well deserved. The masseuse was very firm, sitting on my back at one point, digging deeply into my immensely tense shoulders. The work she did yesterday can be felt today. I can only imagine how I’ll feel tomorrow always feeling the most intense portion of the aftermath of any type of physical activity two days later.
I will definitely return to North Hollywood’s Anantara Thai Spa in the near future. Their facility was clean, calming, and surprisingly quiet as they’re located on a very busy street. The staff was friendly and welcoming. It was just the type of nourishment my body needed. I followed this up with some light stretching and yoga before bedtime.
SELF CARE SUNDAY
We are all in need of self care, some of us even more than others. It’s crucial to find the time before it’s too late. Our bodies respond in strange, more tangible ways to trauma, anxiety, stress, and depression. All of these things can cause medical concerns if not addressed. Not to mention the importance of our mental health.
Sunday is the day of rest for many, so I encourage you today to ask yourself what it is you need. Are you in need of more sleep? Do you need more exercise? Are you drinking enough water? When is the last time you did something nice for yourself? It doesn’t even have to be expensive or cost a dime for that matter! Take a hot, bubble bath. Hell, take a walk! Whatever it may be, just take care of you. The world would be more equipped to take care of one another if we all took better care of ourselves.
Mushroom Coffee | The Road Linds Travels
June 12, 2022 at 5:36 PM[…] Sigmatic’s mushroom coffee tastes just like coffee, too! It contains coffee farmed at 5,500 feet above sea level in Marcala, La Paz, Honduras. I have yet to try it hot, […]
