Caraccioli Cellars 2015 Santa Lucia Highlands Brut Cuvée Sparkling Wine

If a glass of bubbly is more your style, don’t sleep on Caraccioli Cellars’ 2015 Brut. If Wine Enthusiast‘s 92 points aren’t enough to convince you, perhaps I can. This smooth, creamy sparkling wine dances on your palate with a lingering, acidic finish. Did someone say, “fire up the grill?” Pair this citrusy and savory beverage with some shrimp skewers. Don’t be afraid to add a bit of spice, as well. And, don’t forget the fancy pepper jack! It is National Wine and Cheese Day, after all.

Domaine GUETH 2019 Muriel Gueth Alsace France AOC Riesling

If you’re a fan of goat cheese or lactose intolerant like so many of us, I got the pairing for you! Dry, clean, and classic with floral and fruity notes, this Riesling is not only certifiably organic but making my mouth water as I type.

Plaisance Ranch 2021 Applegate Valley Rogue Valley Oregon Sauvignon Blanc

Moving on to one of my favorites, this Oregon Sauvignon Blanc screams summer bar-be-cue. It’s only natural you pair one of my favorite white wines with one of my favorite cheeses: asiago. If my words don’t impress you, then maybe the $20 price tag will. Pinkies up!

Casa Dumetz Wines 2019 Spear Vineyards Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir

Perhaps red is more up your alley. In that case, this Pinot Noir from Casa Dumetz hits all the right notes. Light enough for the middle of summer yet packing a flavorful punch with its sweet berries, rose petals, and spice, pair this vino with your favorite pasta. Sprinkle that pasta with some mozzarella and serve alongside a fresh burrata salad. *finger-kissing good*

Peju Province 2019 Persephone Napa Valley Cabernet Franc

Now, if you’re like me and don’t mind a heavier red when it’s hot as Hades outside, you must try Peju Province’s 2019 Cabernet Franc. Cab Franc pairs well with many different kinds of cheese (think cheese platter). Not to mention, this full-bodied wine garnered 91 points from the Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine. With hints of coffee and olives on the palate, it’s the perfect pairing with pecorino’s biting minerality and sometimes spicy finish.
